School Staff - Who's who

I feel very privileged to be in my current role as Headteacher, leading Sandiway Primary school in the next chapter of its journey.  Having worked here as Deputy Headteacher since 2012, I am in a unique position of knowing the school and its community incredibly well. I am very proud of the school improvement we have worked so hard to secure and embed. I am keen to ensure Sandiway, its children, staff and wider community continue to thrive.

As a staff, we are here to do an incredibly important job for our children, they only have one chance at their education.  Whilst I am passionate about ensuring that we have high expectation and aspiration for all our children in terms of academic progress, I am also passionate about developing the whole child, developing the knowledge and skills required to manage in our ever-changing world.  Personal development, creativity and curiosity are areas that I really value.

I have a strong believe in the ethos of ‘family first’ and in the time I have worked at Sandiway, I have enjoyed many of life’s most cherished events having both got married and had my son.  In this time, I have also seen the lives of many other staff members evolve and change with pivotal moments in their lives too.  In my ‘downtime’ I enjoy being in the great outdoors.  I love beach life, biking and walking- spending quality time with my loved ones.

After arriving at Sandiway in 2014, I have had the privilege of teaching in both Year 1 and Reception. Throughout my time at the school, I have developed a real passion for Early Years and feel incredibly fortunate to have spent so many years helping our youngest learners grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity.

After 11 wonderful years in EYFS, I am excited to be embarking on a new chapter in my career. For one day a week I will be teaching Year 2. It is so lovely to be returning to this class. Since 2023, I have proudly held the role of SENDCo and have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside staff, children, and families to ensure every child receives the support and opportunities they deserve.

I am delighted to share that I will be continuing in my role as SENDCo whilst also taking on the position of Deputy Headteacher. It is a privilege to support the continued success of Sandiway and to contribute to shaping the future of our school community.

This is a particularly exciting time for our school, and I am looking forward to working closely with our dedicated staff, wonderful children, and supportive families as we continue to build on the many strengths that make Sandiway such a special place. Together, I know we will achieve great things, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

In my spare time I love catching up with friends, being at the beach or supporting my children in their sporting events. I love being a football mum!

Hello! My name is Miss Virmani and I am the Year 1 teacher at Sandiway. I am an Early Career Teacher and feel very fortunate to be beginning my teaching career at a school that puts children at the absolute forefront of everything it does. During my teacher training, I taught across both KS1 and KS2 within three different schools, where I gained invaluable experience working with children across a range of ages. I am passionate about creating a classroom where children feel happy, supported and excited to learn. I believe that every child should feel valued and have the confidence to explore, ask questions and take pride in their achievements. I particularly enjoy creating engaging and creative learning experiences that allow children to develop their independence and discover what they are capable of. My favourite subjects to teach are English, Art, RE and History. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, baking, exploring new places, trying new recipes inspired by cuisines from around the world and spending quality time with my family and friends. I especially love reading with my son and going on story adventures!

Hello! My name is Mr Graham

Hello everyone, my name is Miss Quinn, and I am absolutely thrilled to be beginning my new journey at Sandiway Primary School. This is my third year of teaching, having previously spent two wonderful years teaching in a Year 2 classroom at a school in Manchester. I genuinely love every minute of working with children, and one of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching their personalities shine, their confidence grow, and their achievements develop throughout the year. I am passionate about creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences, which is why PE and Science are two of my favourite subjects to teach. I love seeing an idea come to life in the classroom and encouraging children to ask questions, explore new concepts, and let their curiosity lead their learning.

Outside of school, I am originally from Ireland, so I love taking every opportunity to fly home and spend quality time with my family and friends. When I am here for the weekend, you will often find me meeting friends, going for a walk with a coffee in hand, and enjoying the outdoors. I firmly believe in taking time for my own wellbeing and "filling my own cup", as this allows me to bring the very best version of myself to the classroom each week. I am incredibly excited to get to know all of the children and families at Sandiway and look forward to making this year a happy, successful, and memorable one for everyone.

"Hello! My name is Mr Spink and I am delighted to be teaching Year 5 at Sandiway. I am an experienced UKS2 teacher and have taught in schools across the country. Year 5 has always been my preferred year group, and I particularly enjoy working with children as they become increasingly independent, curious and confident in their learning.

I recently completed my NPQLT and I am passionate about creating a classroom where children feel supported, challenged and excited to learn. I believe that learning should be engaging and memorable, while encouraging children to develop the confidence and resilience to take on new challenges.

Outside of school, I love walking in the Cheshire countryside and am currently developing my cooking skills! I am also a huge lover of books and would definitely describe myself as both a bibliophile and a bibliomaniac. I am always happiest when I have a good book to read."

Hello! My name is Mrs Sparks and I will be teaching Year 6 this year. I have been teaching in KS1 for 12 years and moved back to Cheshire from Dorset in 2018. This is my second year teaching in KS2 and my 9th year teaching at Sandiway. I completed my NPQ for Leading Primary Maths last year and I am part of the Senior Leadership Team at Sandiway. I am great believer that learning should be exciting and memorable. My favourite subjects in school are Maths, Art, Geography and Me and My World. I love instilling a passion for learning, and empowering children to become confidence and resilient learners within the classroom. Outside of school, I have two gorgeous sausage dogs called Kali who is a wirehaired and River who is a longhaired, they are the cutest! I love spending time with my family and friends (especially my 8 nieces/nephews). I am passionate about reading and enjoy travelling, horse riding and hiking in the Lake District.

Hello everyone! My name is Mrs Tucker and I have been teaching at Sandiway since 2003. I am one of the longest serving members of staff and proud of it. I will be teaching music across the school along with PE and RE. Outside school, I am LOVING being a Nana to my beautiful granddaughter Elsie. I love to visit my husband's farm.

Welcome to Sandiway Primary School. I am Liz Segrott and I am privileged to lead Club Rock our wrap around childcare provision which includes our breakfast, after school and holiday clubs.
